Venerable Chokyi has again agreed to lead a Vajrasattva Retreat for us. Scheduled between Christmas and New Year, it is a perfect opportunity to reflect upon the past year, to purify our mistakes and look forward to 2025 with positivity.
The practice of Vajrasattva is a purification practice common to all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. It is said to be particularly powerful for skilfully regretting our wrong doings, purifying them and resolving to transform our efforts into positive actions to benefit all beings and the world.
Participants are guided through the Vajrasattva Purification Practice, which involves visualisation, recitation of mantras and the application of the four opponent powers of purification (the skilfully applied powers of regret, reliance, the antidote and commitment).
This retreat is suitable for beginners or experienced practitioners alike, however a basic understanding of karma will be helpful.
Please note that if possible you should avoid ‘black foods’ (meat, fish, eggs, onions, garlic and radishes) for the time you are attending the retreat.
Dates: Saturday 28th – Monday 30th December
Times: 9.30am – 4.30pm
Location: Kunsang Yeshe Retreat Centre, 116 Bathurst Rd, Katoomba and via Zoom at a location of your choice.
Cost: $135/$105 for full 3 days; $52/$42 per day.
This fee will cover your light vegetarian lunch and morning/afternoon tea (gluten free options available) however if you have particular food sensitivities, please consider bringing some food that is suitable for you. Alternatively, there are numerous eateries on nearby Katoomba Street.
You will be forwarded a PDF of the text within your ticket confirmation email. Please consider using an electronic version during these 3 days. Please bring a Mala if you have one as this will help with focussing on the mantra recitation.
